Aurora Products Company (Earthview™ Binders) uses polypropylene rather than vinyl, invests in state-of-the-art machinery that uses less energy and releases zero pollutants, and uses only 100% recycled paperboard of which 70% is from post-consumer waste.
For every ton of virgin paperboard that is converted to coated or uncoated recycled paperboard (CRB/URB), one ton of recovered fiber is kept out of municipal landfills. This reduces the amount of methane created and further decreases greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Fourteen trees are saved for every converted ton, allowing sequestration (the accumulation and storage of carbon in growing trees) of carbon dioxide (CO2) in North America.
Production of CRB/URB requires 50% less energy than virgin grades of paperboard. By converting 250 tons of virgin paperboard to CRB, enough energy is saved to heat someone’s home for an entire year.
In addition, using 100% recycled paperboard benefits habitat preservation, groundwater protection and soil erosion prevention.
